I got a message on Instagram some months ago from an old high school friend asking if I saw myself heading back to Michigan anytime soon. It turns out she had gotten engaged over the summer and was hoping I’d be willing to take her engagement photos. She claimed that she and her fiancé were a little uncomfortable in front of a camera and that she was worried they weren’t photogenic. Spoiler alert: She was worried for absolutely no reason.
We connected on a chilly fall morning in our home state and conversation picked up just like we were seniors in high school all over again. I loved getting to connect with Lucy and her middle school sweetheart, Kyle for their fall engagement session back in Michigan. Can you believe they’ve known each other since middle school?! They were so sweet together and handled the cold like total champs.
So, note to all of you out there who think you aren’t photogenic or look awkward in photographs: stop doubting yourself. You are beautiful. Your connection with your loved ones is beautiful. Don’t let a little insecurity keep you from having photos of it taken.
