I can’t believe I’m typing this, but this is the first time I’ve had professional photos taken of my little family.
Sure, I have about a million photos of my boyfriend and our pup together, but we’ve never taken the time to actually get our family photographed and, WOW, will I not be waiting long for the next session.
My dear friend and fellow photog Sarah joined us in the studio for our first ever session together and I am IN LOVE with these photos. And it taught me so much to be on this side of the camera with my person and pup. I truly think being in the frame makes you a better photographer and it’s something I’m dedicated to doing more this year.
It helped me see where communication can break down, where prompting can make or break a photo and how much a positive attitude means when you’re the one being photographed (even if your boyfriend keeps asking when he can be done or your dog just wants to jump into window sills instead of sitting pretty for the camera…)
Our photos are perfectly imperfect and I cannot wait to print them and hang them all over our home.
Photos taken by Sarah Impola, edited by me.
