Getting Ready Photo Must-Haves You Didn’t Know You Needed

Ahhh wedding mornings. All the incredible anticipation of your best day ever. But I’m telling you, there’s a formula for making it perfect. So let’s cut to the chase, here are the getting ready photo must-haves for the morning of your wedding.

A Bomb Playlist

First things first, you need to set the mood. And one of the best ways to do that is to start with the music.

So know your group, but be true to yourself. Whether your people get down to 90’s hip hop, early 2000’s pop stars, show tunes or classic rock, the right playlist is key.

Bubbly to Toast with Your Girls (or Guys)

And yes, this applies whether you drink alcohol or not. I don’t care if you’re a champagne girl or a whiskey guy or just someone who would rather stick to sparkling water. You need some kind of a beverage to toast to your friends and family (and for them to toast to you!)

So let’s shake up a bottle of bubbly or pour out some shots of the good stuff and remind your friends and family why they are the ones with you on that day.
And as a bonus, it makes for a great, natural photo opportunity!

All of the Snacks

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you need to eat on your wedding day. I don’t care if your dress is tightly fit or you are too nervous to put down a big breakfast, you need to eat something.

Try something light and healthy in the morning and snack throughout your getting ready period. You don’t want to feel weighed down, but you also don’t want to feel faint throughout the day. This is especially important if you are planning to consume alcohol.

Plan a fun, classy charcuterie board or platter of fruits and veggies that you can have on hand to grab a bite here or there are you get ready. I promise you won’t regret it!

Unobstructed Windows

Overhead lighting is not our friend on a wedding morning. For really beautiful photography of you getting ready with your peeps, we’ll want window light. Even if there’s only one window in the room, prepare to be in that area a lot with your photographer.

It’s pretty likely they’ll ask to turn off the overhead lights in order to get the most flattering images and that window light is key!

So, try to be aware of where your windows are when you set up. Try to set up your hair and makeup artists (if you have them) in that area so we can get the very best photos of you before you go meet your person.

Your Closest Friends & Family Members

The biggest must-have for the morning of your wedding is your crew. Maybe for you that’s your half of the wedding party, your best friends or just a few close family members. And even better if it’s your pup!

When you think about your favorite people in the world, who comes to mind? Maybe that includes people who wouldn’t usually be included in your wedding party, like grandma or close family friend. But you know what? The rules don’t matter. It’s your day. Bring whoever makes you happy and will hype you up on your way to marry your person.

I hope this list of getting ready photo must-haves helps you plan the perfect start to your big day! And know I’m wishing you and your babe the best in your future marriage.
