Just over an hour northwest of the Twin Cities, Blackberry Ridge has quickly become one of my favorite venues to shoot at. It’s not only a gorgeous space that’s perfect for couples’ portraits at golden hour, but it comes with a fantastic event coordinator: Ms. Candyce Thompson. That’s right, this venue comes with a built-in planner who can help make sure everything goes smoothly on your day. This woman is a godsend for any couple getting married at Blackberry Ridge so I asked her some questions about how to make your wedding at this gorgeous Minnesota wedding venue perfect.
Q: How can couples work best with your team? Anything you wish more people did (or didn’t do) before or during their wedding day?

There are a number of things that couples don’t think about before the wedding. Vacuuming after floral delivery, lighting the candles and refilling the dessert are just a few! When you book a Blackberry Ridge Golf Club Wedding, we make sure your day runs smoothly and you know what comes next.
Don’t feel bad about asking questions! We understand that there a million and one things that run through your head during wedding planning. Feel free to reach out with any questions or bring them to your detail meeting.
This meeting takes place 5-6 months before your wedding. We go over almost everything including your timeline, meal decisions, decor and all of those questions that come up!
Q: When couples ask, what would you say is the #1 reason they should get married at Blackberry Ridge Golf Club?
I would have to say the #1 selling point is the friendliness and professionalism our staff provides.
If that wasn’t enough, we have the ability to provide outdoor dances, tons of windows, a spacious outdoor patio, gorgeous new chairs and have an option to take care of all of your decor setup and takedown.
Q: As a photographer, I love working at Blackberry and have my own favorite spots, but if you had to pick, what are your favorite spots for wedding photos?
Blackberry Ridge is located on a beautiful golf course, and happens to be Central MN’s favorite! There are endless photo options, but some of the unique places are listed below.
1. The Back of the Building: The back of blackberry is lined with large windows and a massive patio. The patio can be used for your wedding party and guests during your social hour but also doubles as a unique photo area.
2. Sunset Photos: Blackberry works with your photographer to determine the right time for sunset photos. When that time comes, you can grab a golf cart and head out on the course to create those warm, glowing photos.
3. The Driveway: Our long winding driveway is the perfect area for photos! The trees hang over it providing some shade and a luscious backdrop. Whether you bring the whole wedding party here or have an intimate moment with your significant other, this place makes a perfect spot!
Q: How far ahead of schedule should couples reach out to book?
When should you book your wedding date depends on a number of factors. If you have a specific date in mind, the further out you book, the better chance you have at securing your date.
Some couples decide to book over two years in advance to allow extra time for planning and saving. Other couples are flexible with their date choice and are okay with booking out 12 months or more.
If you are considering a date in May-October we highly recommend you give yourself plenty of time because these dates can fill up fast. If you are looking to plan a wedding in less than 12 months, don’t worry! Our available dates may be limited, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be able to provide you with the wedding of your dreams.
