You wanna hear something crazy? Tom proposed in early October of this year. Their wedding is in November. Yes, this November. But you know what? I freaking love this. Kristen and Tom are the epitome of “when you’re ready, you’re ready,” and I had an absolute blast with them at their Stillwater engagement shoot.
It was windy.
It was cold.
They were such troopers.
This shoot was perfect.
This night was so cold that we sat in our cars halfway through to warm up (hello fall in Minnesota!) It was also a shoot where I gave them a gallery with 115 photos, because they were that good.
We had hot cocoa spiked with Baileys and Crown Royal Vanilla. We walked along the bridge were Tom proposed just a few weeks before. We sat on the bench where Kristen first got to look at her stunning, personalized engagement ring. And we talked all night about their love and plans for the big day.
I wasn’t able to meet Tom or Kristen before this shoot, but it sure didn’t feel that way. Their Stillwater engagement shoot made me feel like their friend (and it helps that we have a friend in common!) and had me laughing the whole time. In fact, the best part for me came when I left these two with a prompt, to tell each other what they’re most excited about in the next year today. And there was a lot to discuss, but I stayed back and captured their private moment out of ear shot. When they were ready, Tom turns to me and says, “Okay, we’re done with therapy now!” which had Kristen and me dying. (Peep the adorable pic of her giggles below for proof).
This day was a blast, albeit a cold one, and I can’t wait to capture their whole freaking day in a few weeks. It’s going to be an absolute dream with so many personal, beautiful details. I can’t wait to share them with you all soon!
